Product Description
This 2017 Bonarda hails from Mendoza, Argentina. Winemakers Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena, a historian and daughter of the famous winemaker Nicolas Catena, craft wines that tell a story of Argentina's early European settlement. The vineyards, at 2,145 - 4,851ft in the Maipu foothills, have calcareous chalk - sand soils. These force the grape roots deep, intensifying the flavors. In the glass, it's a deep violet with alluring scents of black cherry, blueberries, cocoa, and a hint of dried herbs. It has a medium body, silky tannins, and tastes of rich dark fruit, licorice, and spice. Ideal with empanadas, swordfish, or mole sauces.
To enjoy this El Enemigo 'La Esperanza' Bonarda, first, let it breathe for about 30 minutes to an hour. Pour it into a wine glass and take in the wonderful aroma. You can drink it at room temperature, but a slightly chilled one around 60 - 64°F (15 - 18°C) is also great. Pair it with empanadas, swordfish, or mole sauces as suggested. Keep the unopened bottle in a cool, dark place. Once opened, re - cork it tightly and store it in the fridge. It's best to finish it within 2 - 3 days.
