Leirana - Albarino

This 2021 Albarino hails from Rias Baixas, Spain. Bodegas Forjas del Salnes is a winery with a rich history. It started in a garage in 2005 on land that has been in Rodrigo Mendez's family for over a century. Mendez and award - winning winemaker Raul Perez use time - honored traditional methods to craft wines that represent classic Galician reds and whites. Despite having less than 8 hectares of land, the vines in the sandy, granitic soils are 30 to 90 years old. The grapes for this Leirana Albarino are carefully hand - picked from three unique parcels in the Salnes Valley: one by the sea, one inland, and one in the hills. Each parcel is fermented separately using natural fermentation, with 80% in stainless - steel tanks and 20% in barrels. The wine has a light oceanic salinity and flavors of nectarine, lime zest, and citrus blossom, making it an ideal match for oysters.
