Truchard Vineyards 'The Shepherd' Red Blend

This 2017 red wine blend hails from Carneros, Napa Valley. It combines Syrah, Zinfandel, and Tempranillo grapes sourced from different parts of the Estate Vineyard. Each grape variety was fermented separately and aged for 12 months in French Oak barrels (30% new). Syrah provides a solid structure, Zinfandel brings bright fruit flavors, and Tempranillo adds a unique spicy kick. Together, they create a fun and easy - drinking red with fruity and complex flavors like blackberry, plum, and black pepper, followed by a long finish of cedar and tobacco. This wine pairs perfectly with grilled eggplant, black lentil soup, or black olive pizza.

To enjoy this Truchard Vineyards red wine blend, simply chill it slightly to around 60 - 65°F (15 - 18°C). Pour it into a wine glass and let it breathe for a few minutes to enhance the flavors. When it comes to food pairing, as mentioned, it goes great with grilled eggplant, black lentil soup, or black olive pizza. Keep the wine in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and strong odors. Make sure the bottle is stored horizontally to keep the cork moist.
