This 2020 Chateau Peyrat red wine hails from the Graves region in Bordeaux, France. The 42 - acre 'Clos' of Chateau Peyrat lies right in the center of the Bordeaux's Graves AOP. The sandy - clay soils and its nearness to the Garonne River form a perfect microclimate. This helps create wines with the minerality, freshness, and finesse typical of Graves. The wine is a blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It's fermented in small concrete vessels to keep the fruit flavors and freshness. Almost all of the aging occurs in concrete, with just 10% in oak barriques. The outcome is a clean, mineral - rich wine. It has a fresh, spicy aroma and tastes of black currants, cranberries, and raspberries, along with a savory earthy note. You can drink it now or age it for 8 - 10 years.
