Product Description
In 2018, the Priorat region, though relatively new in the wine - making world, has rapidly gained fame for its potent wines. It's the only area outside Rioja to hold the prestigious DOCa status in Spanish wine law. The region's special black slate and quartz soil, called llicorella, soaks up the sun's heat for perfect grape ripening and imparts a distinct mineral taste to the wine. 'Clos Cypress' hails from the 1934 - planted Sant Marti vineyard at 300 - 375ft altitude. Named after the ancient cypress trees near the vines, this 100% Samso (aka Carignan or Carineña) wine is full - bodied. It has smooth tannins and a strong aroma of dark fruits, licorice, toasted cedar, and forest floor. On the palate, you'll enjoy rich flavors of blackberry, boysenberry, and anise, followed by a long - lasting finish.
This wine is best served at a cool temperature, around 55 - 60°F. Just open the bottle, let it breathe for about 30 minutes to an hour before pouring. It pairs wonderfully with grilled meats, like steak or lamb, and rich, flavorful cheeses. When storing, keep it in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and strong odors. Don't forget to store the bottle horizontally to keep the cork moist. After opening, if you have some left, re - cork it tightly and store it in the fridge. It should stay good for a couple of days.
