This 2015 wine is made from 100% Sagrantino grapes in Montefalco, Italy. The Antonelli Family has owned this charming 450 - acre estate since 1881 and has been making wine here ever since. They also produce high - quality olive oils. The vines for this Montefalco Rosso were planted in 1979 at the heart of the property. Harvesting of Sagrantino begins in October, resulting in a powerful wine. After separate fermentations, the wines are blended and aged together in large oak barrels for 9 months. This process softens the tannins and adds rich depth to the wine without over - emphasizing the oak flavor. It's delicious now but will reach its peak in 8 - 10 years.
