The 2012 vintage of this wine is crafted from 100% Montepulciano grapes. These are the finest selections from the estate's vineyards in Piancarda and Paterno. The grapes are 100% destemmed, then fermented on the skins for 10 - 15 days. After that, it's racked and undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels. The wine matures for 1 - 2 years in small French oak barrels and spends nearly 2 years in the bottle before hitting the market. On the nose, you'll detect notes of caramel, wood, cherries, sawdust, and herbs. On the palate, it offers well - structured flavors with leather and tobacco undertones. It has a great balance and a long, satisfying finish.
