Product Description
In 2019, this Syrah hails from Monreale, Sicily, Italy. Just a short distance from Palermo, the Sallier de La Tour Estate is at the heart of the Monreale DOC. The family has owned this land for 8 generations since the mid - 19th century. They believe classic grapes can express the essence of a region. After years of testing, they found the perfect spot - La Monaca, a hill behind the estate. It has abundant water, sandy soil, active limestone, and lots of potassium. Facing northeast, it gets good sunlight and is shielded from summer heat. The breeze from the Gulf of Castellammare helps the grapes ripen evenly. The result is a full - bodied Syrah with high tannins, acid, alcohol, and intense flavors. Aged for 14 months in French oak and 8 months in the bottle before release. You'll taste rich dark fruits, with hints of licorice, slate, and tobacco. It pairs perfectly with arancini in a rich ragu sauce.
To enjoy this wine, first, let it breathe for about 30 minutes to an hour after opening. Pour it into a large wine glass to enhance the aroma. You can serve it at a temperature of around 18 - 20°C. As for food pairing, arancini with a rich ragu sauce is a great choice, but it also goes well with other rich, meaty dishes like grilled steak or lamb. Store the unopened bottle in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight. Once opened, keep it in the fridge and consume it within 2 - 3 days for the best flavor.
